+# BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING, READ THIS FIRST.
+
+**Do not flash new firmware until you've verified that the electronics are all working.**
+
+That means, finish building the headphones, plug them in, use the stock firmware for about five minutes. Verify that everything is working.
+
+Once you've verified that it all works, you're good to go flashing new firmware.
+
+# IMPORTANT: MANY STEPS IN THIS ASSEMBLY PROCESS ARE CRITICAL.
+
+*Read every step completely and carefully before you actually do it.* There are often important notes that accompany each step. Study photos in detail.
+
+To remind you of this, critical steps will have a title like this: **(!) Step 14: Do This Step Carefully**. These steps must be completed correctly the first time, without mistakes.
+
+Critical details will be emphasised with a **(!)**.
+
