Amplifier, Cables and Conclusion

In this section, you will assemble the Cables of the official Ploopy Headphones Kit, and complete the assembly.

Step 1: Prepare to assemble the Amplifier

  • Amplifier PCB
  • Amplifier Case Top
  • Amplifier Case Bottom
  • 2 Small Screws

Note: Your kit may contain an Amplifier PCB that is already placed inside the Amplifier Case.

OPTIONAL: Upload the latest firmware to the Amplifier

Now is a good time to do this, since the PCB isn't yet in its case. Follow these instructions to upload the latest firmware; it should take about five minutes.

Step 2: Place the Amplifier PCB into the Amplifier Case Bottom

Step 3: Screw the Amplifier Case Top to the Amplifier Case Bottom

  • Use both of the two small screws.

Step 4: Cut out the Ploopy Logos

  • (!) Use scissors to cut the Ploopy Logos out of the cork backing.
  • Be careful, as the cork can easily crack or fall apart. Try to avoid bending the cork unnecessarily.

Step 5: Peel and stick the Ploopy Logos

  • You may need to use tweezers to peel off the packing.
  • Stick the Logos onto the Drivers, as well as onto the Amplifier.
  • Feel free to stick them anywhere else, too, or just throw them in the garbage if you don't want them. They're not strictly necessary...but they sure look nice!

Step 6: Prepare to assemble the Cable

  • Cable Y-Splitter
  • 2 TRS Cables
  • Wire Wrapper

Step 7: Assemble the Cable

  • It doesn't matter which TRS Cable goes into which jack of the Cable Y-Splitter.
  • Braid the two TRS Cables into a braid. This is good practice to reduce the effects of electromagnetic interference, and it helps keep the wires tidy.
  • Use the Wire Wrapper to hold the wires in place. The location of the Wire Wrapper can be adjusted later.

Step 8: Admire your handiwork

Step 9: All done!

Congrats, you finished building the Ploopy Headphones!

It's done! Love them, use them, but don't you dare abuse them!
